The Empty Bottle Ramblers are a lively Boston-based Cajun dancehall band with longtime ties to the Louisiana music and dance community.  Their repertoire features driving accordion two-steps, heart-felt fiddle waltzes, and blues-inflected Cajun songs — the classic style born in the dancehalls of Acadiana. The Ramblers know just the right mix to bring that special Louisiana Cajun dancehall energy to the Northeast.

Dancers are drawn to the Empty Bottle Ramblers for the authentic and dance-friendly rhythms of their classic two-step and waltz tempos.  Tim Kness’s energetic accordion leads paired with Rachel Rosenberg’s melodic fiddling are the signature elements of the Ramblers dance music that invite dancers onto the dance floor and keep them moving and grooving all night long.

Their members have been featured at festivals as wide-ranging as Grey Fox, OldTone, Podunk, Swamp in the City, and the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, to name just a few. Tim Kness, who leads the band on accordion and vocals, is also known as the Triangle King for his hand-forged traditional Cajun t’fers.  Tim is joined by Danny Birnbaum (upright bass), Zach Meyer (guitar, vocals), Rachel Rosenberg (fiddle, vocals) and Zeb Whitford (drums).

A founding member of the Empty Bottle Ramblers, Danny Birnbaum’s been recognized for his deep and danceable pocket in both the Cajun and old-time genres.  Zach Meyer is a sought-after multi-instrumentalist whose primary projects include Cajun Surprise (with Jean Bertrand of the Pine Leaf Boys), Americana outfit Grain Thief, and psychedelic old-time band Dumpster Debbie.

Rachel Rosenberg, the newest member of the Empty Bottle Ramblers, has studied with some of Louisiana’s Cajun fiddle masters, including David Greely founding member of Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys.  As the leader of Boston’s premiere Honky-Tonk band, the Talking Hearts, Rachel’s unique fiddling playfully explores the deep link between Cajun music and classic country.  Together, Rachel and Zach are known for their soaring vocal harmonies and add some tasty Honky-Tonk flair to the Ramblers’ traditional Cajun mix.
